Semantische Wissensrepräsentation und Interoperabilität Teil 1: Interoperabilität als Weg zur Wissensexploration.

This paper consists of two parts. In part one methods of semantic knowledge representation are related to principles for designing retrieval scenarios for conceptual searches and in particular for knowledge exploration. Starting with heterogeneous indexing situations, ideas are presented how to overcome the heterogeneity situation by semantic interoperability. Based on a formal model to assist in the understanding of semantic interoperability, presented in part 2 of the paper, a proposal for an overall system is developed, which consists of an ontological spine and associated localized semantic networks with extended relational inventories. The possibilities for searching and conceptual exploration within such a framework are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
