Abstract

As a liquid energy carrier and C1 component, methanol is an important commodity for storing electrical energy from renewable sources. The production of "green methanol" from electricity (power to methanol) represents a cross‐sectorial approach for the usage of renewable energies. Copper‐based catalysts for methanol synthesis from CO are also suitable for the conversion of CO2 with renewably produced hydrogen. Design of experiments was used to find the optimum working range for PtM application with regards to the target variables of CO2 conversion and methanol yield for a commercially available catalyst.
