Abstract

“El Apagón” was a radio program that was listened to en masse every December 31 in Quito. The final minute, concentrated the attention of listeners for more than 50 years in the Quito neighborhoods. These ways of accessing and linking to content by audiences, could problematize folkloristic views of culture that argue an essentiality unalterable to what is called popular, which is rather linked to the traditional, the proper, the pure, the unalterable. We try to describe access to the program, approach social practices linked to media messages. This work is situated in the integral analysis of the audiences as an interdisciplinary framework. It has an exploratory (spatial-geographical delimitation) and qualitative (comprehensive / interpretive) composition. Exploratory survey and application of questionnaires. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
