Abstract

In the atmosphere, R2Co17-type SmCo-based magnetic powders (Sm(Co0.6Cu0.08Fe0.3Zr0.02)8.35) a bit different in oxidation process as compared with bulk permanent magnet. This article describes investigation of the oxidation process of Sm(Co0.6Cu0.08Fe0.3Zr0.02)8.35magnetic powders at up to 500 °C through thermogravimetric/differential thermal analysis (TG/DTA) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) technology. The result shows that oxides such as CuO, Co3O4, and CoFe2O4 are firstly formed at 225 °C and then Sm2O3 at 350 °C. At this point activation energy is 47 kJ/mol. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
