Abstract

The article focuses on ascites is generally considered a consequence of liver cirrhosis and/or portal hypertension, and patients with massive ascites may have a higher risk of mortality. Topics include the increased portal pressure as the blood inflow of the portal vein to the postoperative remnant liver is similar to the blood inflow to the preoperative liver, and the strategy for managing postoperative ascites is needed to ensure the safety of hepatic resection.
