Abstract

The article reports on the alleged move by Russia to solidify its grip to occupied territories in Ukraine's southern region amidst the fighting in the country's eastern region. Russia restored roads, rails and a critical freshwater canal, introduced Russian currency, and appointed proxy officials. Also mentioned is the claim by Russian Defense Minister Sergei K. Shoigu that traffic is already open from Russia to Kherson and Crimea through the eastern Donbas region.
