Abstract
- The revelation of the Qur'an, which is the last divine address of Allah to mankind, was realized through a certain period and society. In this context, it is necessary to examine the process of the revelation step by step and compare before and after the revelation in order to better understand the moral construction that the Qur'an aims to build in the society. The book entitled “Câhiliyyeden Kur’ân’a Ahlâk” (Morality from Jahiliyyah to the Qur’an) by Yakup Bıyıkoğlu aims to reveal how the virtues of the Jahiliyyah period underwent a transformation with the formation of Islam, and their reflections on the divine speech in a comparative way. This work, which consists of an introduction and three chapters, offers a conceptual framework in the first chapter. In the second chapter, the moral values that the Quran reformed and transformed from worldly desires to otherworldly goals, such as generosity-stinginess, courage/braverycowardice, fidelity-disloyalty, chastity/honor-unchastity and solidarity-protection are explored. In the last chapter, the wars in the age of Jahiliyyah and the morality of war built by the Quran are examined in a comparative way. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
