Abstract

This work intends to understand and articulate how femininity is constituted and its articulation with the hysteria and subjectivity of our time, addressing especially Freud and Lacan's point of view on psychological theory. Starting from basic concepts of theory, we begin with the Oedipus complex and how the subjective operation of the constitution of sexuality is born with Freud based on a phallic solution. From the oedipal situation, the girl, when perceiving herself without the male genital organ, would then be constituted by someone who feels harmed by the absence of the penis. This disadvantage would leave indelible traces in its development and in the formation of its character, which Freud calls the penis envy (penisneid). However, Freud concludes his studies on femininity by describing it as insufficient since the feminine still presented itself as something obscure for him. In Lacan, some aspects of the Freudian conception are enriched, especially concerning the vicissitudes of a female position. From the paths transmitted by Freud, he is faced with something of desire that is not covered by phallic significance and, from there, gives another direction to the feminine position. In Lacan's teachings, a woman is not entirely inscribed in the phallic function and, therefore, will be marked by something that is not inscribed in the symbolic field, by a non-representable, by the Other's enjoyment, not all phallic and infinite enjoyment. We searched the literature for something that could illustrate this work and, in that search, Sidonie's chronicle, "Secret Wishes", whose real name is Margarethe Csonka, Freud's patient, was charming because of the richness of its content and its direct connection with the unfolding of this work.
