Abstract
- In this study we have developed a cisplatin drug carrier nanoparticles based on biomaterials—chitosan and lactic acid. Drug was loaded in synthesized Chitosan-co-lactic acid nanoparticles by absorption method, to investigate the drug release behavior. Nanoparticles have potential to encapsulate drug and subsequent release it in swelling controlled manner. The release profile of cisplatin from nanoparticles showed controlled release for over 3 days. It has also been observed that the drug release is highly influenced by the chemical composition, pH, temperature and physiological fluids. Several drug release model have been used to design an effective formulation and to provide the understanding of drug release profile from a therapeutic system. These nanoparticles of chitosan-co-lactic acid have been found to be promising biomaterials as controlled drug release vehicles. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
