METHODS OF EXTRACTING THE ACTIVE PRINCIPLES FROM MEDICINAL AND AROMATIC PLANTS -- A REVIEW.

Medicinal plants are gaining much interest recently because their use in ethno--medicine treating in common disease such as cold, fever and other medicinal claims are now supported with sound scientific evidences. A wide range of technologies is available for the extraction of active components and essential oils from medicinal and aromatic plants. The choice depends on the economic feasibility and suitability of the process to each particular situation. Bioactive compounds from medicinal plants were synthesized using effective extraction methods which have important roles in the pharmaceutical product development.
