- The article focuses on the links between the Joseph cycle and its Egyptian background. Topics discussed include the interpretive implications of possible allusions within the Joseph narrative to Egyptian texts; the provenance and contents of the Westcar Papyrus; and the relevance of the narratives found in Westcar for the study of the Pentateuch.
