Abstract

Flight schools are institutions that carry out training activities in order to ensure quality and competition in the sector and to meet the pilot needs of the sector. Therefore, the aircraft to be used in the training must be chosen correctly. The aim of this study is to determine the aircraft selection criteria of the flight schools, to find the weights of these criteria and to choose the most suitable aircraft alternatives among the preferred flight schools. In the study, MEREC and CoCoSo methods, which are the current Multi-Criteria Decision Making methods, were preferred. The MEREC method was used to find the criterion weights, and the CoCoSo method was used to rank the aircraft. In the literature search, no study was found in which MEREC and CoCoSo methods were used in aircraft selection of flight schools. In the results of the analysis, it has been determined that the three most important evaluation criteria are "standard weight", "fuel tank capacity" and "maximum take-off weight", respectively. The criterion with the lowest degree of importance was the "aviation capability of the engine manufacturer" criterion. "Piper PA-44 Seminole" with alternative 3 codes took the first place among the aircraft alternatives. It is thought that the study will be beneficial to aviation industry and flight school managers.
