Editorial for the Special Issue: "State-of-Art in Protein Engineering".

This Special Issue of I Biomolecules i demonstrates the almost unlimited possibilities of modern protein engineering in gene expression, protein production and modification, as well as the design and creation of new proteins. Chaperones promote proper protein folding and prevent aggregation, so they can be used for protein expression and protein engineering, including co-expression with various target proteins. The research teams behind the articles included in this Special Issue deal with a variety of proteins of possible medical and/or biotechnological interest, but all of these proteins apply state-of-the-art protein engineering techniques in their research.
