Abstract

The research aims to know the social representations of women about the use of legal psychoactive substances during pregnancy. This is a descriptive, exploratory study with a qualitative approach, which was carried out from December 2020 to March 2021, 25 women attended at a health center in the interior of the state of Alagoas participated in the research. The Theory of Social Representations was used as a theoretical framework. In the main results, the feelings that cause conflicts in the individual and social spheres of the participants about the use of legal psychoactive substances during pregnancy were highlighted as central themes. Thus, it can be known that the study made it possible to know the social representations of women about the use of legal psychoactive substances during pregnancy, through a consensual universe, formed from social support and combined by women and their social relationships.
