Abstract

The book "Poetics around Slaughterhouse Five" by Diego Sheinbaum, published in 2020, analyzes Kurt Vonnegut's emblematic novel. The study highlights the importance of Vonnegut's work in the context of contemporary literature and points out the scarcity of works dedicated to his work in Mexico and Latin America. Sheinbaum's book offers an enriching reading of Vonnegut's novel and other works, using theories from Russian formalism and French structuralism to analyze the work from a perspective of reflective fabulists. The study focuses on Menippean satire and parody as fundamental elements in Vonnegut's work, and establishes a comparison between the novel and its film adaptation. [Extracted from the article]
