Abstract

The article discusses the effect of length of incarceration and intensive treatment on youthful offenders. Analyzing the scores on the Rosenzweig Picture Frustration Test did this. The result suggested that longer the offender remain in the institution, the more likely be is to increase his use of impunitive responses to frustrating situations. Intensive treatment, as operationally de- fined, seems to have little effect. Extrapunitive responses do not appear to be affected by the presently measures length of incarceration and/or intensive treatment.
