The article focuses on scientific oceanographic campaigns carried out by the ship La Bocaina to advance the knowledge of biodiversity of deep waters of the ocean Atlantic in the environment of the Canary Islands. Topics include data on two species of bathypelagic fish, Argyropelecus gigas and Argyropelecus hemygimnus as well as their bathymetric distribution; and presence of photophores capable of producing bioluminescence in the ventral region to control the changes of climate in the oceans.
