Abstract
- It is recommended that people with type 1 diabetes should generally aim to achieve glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) <53 mmol/mol.[1],[2] Likewise, as defined by continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) metrics, the proposed general aims are to spend >70% time-in-range (TIR, 70-180 mg/dL), <4% below 70 mg/dL, <1% below 54 mg/dL, <25% above 180 mg/dL, and <5% above 250 mg/dL.[3] However, the proportion of individuals achieving the goals of CGM metrics among cohorts meeting target HbA1c is not much known. Percentage TIR was higher in participants who met target HbA1c, with less time in hyperglycemia but more time in hypoglycemia than individuals not meeting target HbA1c (Table 1).
