Abstract
- One novel tin porphyrin covalently functionalized polyaniline nanohybrid (SnTPP-PANI) has been prepared by the nucleophilic substitution reaction of polyaniline (PANI) with tin porphyrin (SnTPP). The attachment of SnTPP to PANI was confirmed by a series spectroscopic techniques, including ultraviolet/visible absorption, fluorescence, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Raman and thermogravimetric analysis, transmission electron microscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The Z-scan measurements indicate that SnTPP-PANI nanohybrid exhibits increased nonlinear optical (NLO) properties (including NLO absorption, nonlinear refraction and optical limiting) at 532 nm in comparison with those of PANI, SnTPP, and SnTPP/PANI blends. The enhanced NLO performances are ascribed to the remarkably efficient electron/energy transfer and the synergistic effect as a result of the covalent linkage between SnTPP and PANI. [Display omitted] • One tin porphyrin covalently functionalized polyaniline (SnTPP-PANI) was prepared. • SnTPP-PANI exhibits enhanced optical nonlinearities. • Synergistic effect between each component contributes to the nonlinear optics.
