Abstracts.

The article presents abstracts of various articles related to health promotion. The paper "Self-Esteem in a Broad-Spectrum Approach for Mental Health Promotion," by M. Mann, C.M.H. Hosman, H.P. Schaalma, and N.K. de Vries stresses the importance of self-esteem as a protective factor and a non-specific risk factor in physical and mental health. The paper "Prevalence of Multiple Chronic Disease Risk Factors," by Lawrence J. Fine, G. Stephane Philogene, Robert Gramling, Elliot J. Coups and Sarbajit Sinha states that four common factors--cigarette smoking, risky drinking of alcoholic beverages, physical inactivity, and overweight--contribute substantially to chronic disease prevalence.
