Songliao black pig is a lean black maternal breed in northern China, which has good roughage-resistance. In order to systematically describe the tolerance of Songliao black pigs to roughage. The paper reviews the research progress on the effects of silage corn stover, fermented corn stover, alfalfa grass meal and other roughages on growth performance, apparent nutrient digestibility, intestinal health, carcass traits, immune ability, reproductive performance and other aspects of Songliao black pigs.
