Abstract

The article offers information that the Betta fish is indigenous to central Thailand and the lower Mekong and is mostly known for its domesticated forms appreciated as an ornamental fish but was originally bred for its use in gambling matches similar to cock fights. It also mentions that researchers have examined the inheritance of body color, fin length, and sex determination in classic crosses in the 1930s to 1940s.
