Abstract

The paper aims to analyze the educational accountability policy in the municipality of Mossoró (RN), observing the effects on the relation between management and education quality. For this purpose, the concept of quality outlined in the legislation and the nature of the instruments used are intended. With a qualitative approach, it analyzes the normative documents that guide the implementation of the policy and the performance indicators in national assessment, as well as revising relevant literature on the subject. It appears that, in this municipal network, the official discourse legitimizes the quality of education as one of the dimensions of the school manager's work, but associated with a model of material accountability that attributes monetary incentives and exempts the municipal government from responsibilities.
