Abstract
- The article discusses themes in historical fiction. A frequent element in romance, Christian fiction and other genres, historical recreations also feed the hungry imaginations of mystery readers. One particularly popular period, that of Tudor England, is represented in Karen Harper's captivating series featuring Elizabeth I. And contemporary history has come into its own as authors like Charlotte Carter (with her "Cook County" series) increasingly use the turbulent 1960s as the backdrop to their literary crimes.
