Abstract

The treatments of waste tire rubber (WTR) have been attracted the attention of many researchers because of their great impact on improving the properties of these wastes and then using it as an alternative to the virgin rubber than if it was used as it is. In this context, styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) and SBR/Devulcanized waste tire rubber prepared by two methods, mechano-chemical and ultrasonic devulcanization of WTR have been reinforcing by polyester tire cord (PTC) with different contents 3 and 5 wt%. Vulcanization effect by gamma radiation doses up to 150 kGy have been studied on the prepared composites. Evaluations of the prepared composites have been done using various measurements like Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectrophotometry and mechanical parameters. Stress–strain response for describing the crosslink density of polymer network was designated. Thermal stability of the blend formulations by thermogravimetric analysis and activation energy calculations have been calculated. Moreover, the internal structure has been investigated by scanning electron microscope. Mechanical parameters, based on tensile strength, Elongation at break (E%) and hardness increase with of presence PTC. Furthermore, an improvement in thermal behavior was recorded.
