Abstract
- Increasing interest in applications where 10Be concentrations are low leads to a challenge in measurement and how to minimise the losses in accelerator mass spectrometry. Selecting a 2+ charge state for analysis instead of 3+ after the accelerator offers a potential gain by a factor of 2 in total measurement efficiency. Benchmarking the 10Be 2 + SiN foil stack ion detection against well-established 10Be 3 + absorber cell technique, using a set of samples with artificially elevated B concentrations, we demonstrate that there is no clear benefit in using 20.3 MeV 10Be 3 + ions for 10Be measurement. Equal suppression against 10B derived interferences can be achieved with 10Be 2 + and 10Be 3 + ions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
