Abstract

As opposed to traditional fold-over flaps, where the tip of the flap is folded inward and then sutured into the nasal vestibule, here the distal flap was sutured first to the internal lining and folded outward. Because this defect was not extensive enough to warrant a forehead flap and involved primarily the right side of the nose, a two-stage procedure using an auricular cartilage graft and a fold-over melolabial interpolation flap was chosen to reconstruct the mucosal lining as well as the overlying soft tissue. A forehead flap would be preferable for larger defects.[2] However, a cheek-to-nose staged interpolation flap would work well to repair this unilateral medium-sized defect.
