Abstract
- An examination of how globalization reshapes social capital and identity, and the implications of this process for democracy, with an empirical focus on the Andean region. The paper first evaluates two interpretations of social capital trends and than examines four key globalization processes relevant to social organization. After reviewing the empirical case, an assessment of the challenges for democracy of the two social capital outcome "models" is offered. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
