Abstract
- I present a two-period election model of incumbent campaign spending where the challenger may learn about incumbent strength through incumbent behavior and performance, and decide whether to enter. The results indicate that challengers will focus on incumbent performance rather than behavior. These results are consistent with empirical findings on challenger entry. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
