Abstract

Recognizing the importance of the discussion on collective health from the perspective of Popular Education (PE), in a critical scenario derived from COVID-19 and misgovernment, this experience report explores the experiences in the Observatory of Popular Education in Health and Brazilian Reality. It is an initiative of the Extension "Práticas Integrais de Promoção da Saúde e Nutrição na Atenção Básica" (PINAB) that aims to propagate the PE and bring together its actors. Seven meetings were held and themes were worked on: "The current Brazilian conjuncture and the principles of popular education and its philosophy for the construction of methodological paths of practice", "Food sovereignty as a movement of humanity and civility: what is the role of popular education in health?", "Eugenics processes in Brazil and their consequences on health, education, justice and equity", "The world and its changes: the place and role of popular education in health", and "Popular Education in Health: Paths and alternatives for experiences and practices". This experience promoted reflections about the current conjuncture, retrieving founding concepts of PE and valuable insights in its meetings. It also demonstrated the potentialities in the use of virtual environments as aids in the dialectic methodology of PE. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
