Abstract
- Böninger's book is noteworthy both for the amount of information it contains as well as for the methodology that the author has used. Niccolò di Lorenzo also published Landino's I Disputationes Camaldulenses i , a study of the active and contemplative lives as illustrated through Virgil's I Aeneid i ; Leon Battista Alberti's I De re aedificatoria i , an important architectural treatise based on Vitruvius; and the vernacular translation of Gregory the Great's I Moralia i on the book of Job. Secondary scholarship in the area of bibliography and printing history is well represented, but it would have been nice in places to see more on a couple of the key authors that Niccolò di Lorenzo published (Landino, for example, has been the study of a good deal of scholarship in the last couple of generations that is not referenced here or integrated into the argument).
