Abstract

Two‐line ferrihydrite particles are synthesized. Structural characterization of the sample is done with an X‐ray diffractometer, transmission electron microscope, Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscope, and thermogravimetric analyzer. Average particle size is 2 nm. Temperature variation (10–300 K) of zero‐field‐cooled and field‐cooled susceptibility in 500 G applied magnetic field bifurcates at 50 K. The field‐cooled susceptibility below this temperature is almost temperature independent. Magnetization versus applied magnetic field (0–120 kG) data at 300 K are analyzed considering particle size distribution. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
