Abstract

This paper analyzes the coming of age of US hegemony in the 20th Century and its implications for regional peace in Latin America. Specifically, the paper examines empirically the notion of "hegemonic peace" and its relation to the "external-peace-and-internal-violence" paradox in South America since the end of the Chaco War in 1935.
