Abstract
- Millions of people crossing previously tightly controlled national borders in Northeast Asia each year are becoming an important element of international relations in the region, changing the economic, social, cultural, and even political landscape of the border regions of China, Japan, Mongolia, and Russia. The paper examines recent trends, current issues, and future prospects of cross-border migration and its role in promoting or threatening the development of regionalism in Northeast Asia.
