Abstract

In response to the vision of 2030 to preserve the environment, sustainable development, and with technological development, the approach to Assistive Technology (AT) has been an effective way to develop many skills of learners with special needs, starting from their early childhood; In a way that helps them to think, apply and actively participate in their environment. One of the most important ways of Utilizing (AT) tools is to use them in the various types of children’s literature (poetry, theater, and story…) directed to the child, including environmental and health concepts. Accordingly, this research is directed to the Critical Review; based on the Systematic Literature Review’s study of the most representative published scientific literature, which links Assistive Technology tools and children’s literature with the environmental and health implications of the various branches of children’s literature that contribute to the development of environmental and health awareness among children . To fill the research gap in this area, this paper will depend on the qualitative (descriptive) approach in collecting data from the previous research literature. In addition, collecting some data from part of two cases study, one from the down syndrome, and the other from the hearing and speech impaired; to investigate the main research question, namely :What is the effectiveness of Utilizing assistive technology tools in children’s literature to develop environmental and health awareness among children with special need? The most important findings of the current research were the success of using and investing assistive technology tools in presenting types of children's literature for children with special needs, and in providing them with environmental and health awareness through it and documenting their relationship with their environment in a positive way to preserve it, and to achieve sustainable development.
