Abstract
- This article discusses the question of the extent to which the competence profile of the teaching librarian and the associated focus on teaching information literacy in academic libraries need to be updated against the background of accelerated social transformation processes. Libraries seem to be predestined as central (learning) sites of future workers, researchers, and innovators for the (partial) development of competences such as future skills. The following implications, however, refer on the one hand to the curricula of library study programmes themselves and on the other hand concern the cooperation across traditional organisational boundaries, as can be observed in third-space institutions.
