Abstract

In the quantitative assessment, the characteristics of the site are evaluated, based on the adoption of specific values with parameters, which are scored using a series of criteria, with or without weighting, and their potential for use, in this case for the geotourism, with the elaboration of an empirical formula that calculates a final grade for the evaluated places. In this work, nine geotouristic sites on the coast of João Pessoa, Paraíba, were quantitatively evaluated, with the aim of inserting them in coastal geotouristic routes. They are: Barra de Gramame, Arenitos Ferruginosos do Jacarapé, Paleodunas do Altiplano, Falésia de Cabo Branco, Terraços Marinhos Holocênicos, Falésia Urbana Inativa, Foz Primitiva do Rio Jaguaribe, Picãozinho e Balanço Sedimentar de Tambaú. The quantitative assessment took as reference the proposal of Pereira et al (2019), through the determination of the geotouristic potential, which was based on two weighted indicators, from which its value indexes were calculated: Potential for Tourist Use, with ten variables, with differentiated weights; Additional Value, with six variables, also with different weights. The three biggest Geotouristic Potential are associated with the area's geoheritage and the Falésia Inativa Urbana had a Geotouristic Potential less than 3,0, only, highlighting the area's potential for geotouristic activity.
