This paper is part of a bigger research about the whole history of the places of samba schools parade from Rio de Janeiro, since the first one at Praça Onze in 1932 until the 80's decade, when it was already in Sambódromo. Choosing this place as a focus area of study, this article intends to discuss the debates that had emerged and the consequences in the city since this construction. Therefore, this paper concerns an analysis of the urban landscape in this area, including her changes and how the parades were transformed, building an own identity to Sambódromo, a new image of the carnival city and how were its use throughout the year as well.
