Isolation and identification of β-sitostenone compound isolated from Macaranga magna Turrill.

Isolation and identification of some phytochemical compounds of the methanol extract of Macaranga magna Turrill (Euphorbiaceae) leaves afforded β-sitosterol (1) and β-sitostenone (2). The extraction and separation, and purification of the compounds were carried out using chromatography standard methods. The structures of isolated compounds were determined by comparison of their NMR and LC-ESI-MS/GC-MS data and comparison with an appropriate reference. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
