LA TOPONÍMIA COM A INDICADOR DE PAISATGES DESAPAREGUTS. EL CAS DE CASTELLÓ DE LA PLANA.

Urban and peri-urban topography of Castelló de la Plana is analyzed using a double methodology. On the one hand, a qualitative type, based on a literature review and fieldwork; on the other, a quantitative type, based on a DEM map (LiDAR technology). Through an interpretation of the analyzed place names, some natural (surface relief, water, vegetal coverage, surface hardness) and cultural (agricultural, craftsmanship, business) extinct landscapes of Castelló de la Plana are virtually reconstructed, after having been lost over the last decades. The toponymic analysis carried out aims to highlight the heritage values of these extinct landscapes, of which only the place name is preserved. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
