Abstract

This paper addresses the question whether post-Soviet countries can be regarded as a common space of special education – despite the existing huge differences between the successor states of the Soviet Union. We argue for a multiperspective view on educational spaces that integrates an influential nation state level into a multidimensional system. The distinctive feature of educational spaces in special education in post-Soviet countries is a synchronicity of different developments which can be conceptualized as a trinity of segregation, integration and ignorance. We conclude that exactly this trinity may be characteristic for a post-Soviet space of special education. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
