Abstract
- The article describes the impact of the summer camp hosted by the Highlander Folk School in Tennessee during the 1950s-1960s, including the idea of the summer camp as a 'safe space' to nurture young activists, the merger of Camp Koinonia, an interracial camp, with Highlander and the struggles of the camp against racism.
