Legislative Threats to Academic Freedom: Redefinitions of Antisemitism and Racism.

(MARCH 2022) The statement that follows, prepared by a subcommittee of the Association's Committee A on Academic Freedom and Tenure, was approved by Committee A in March 2022. These antisemitism bills also constitute state interference with academic freedom, thereby undermining the public mission of higher education to serve the common good through open, searching, and critical pedagogy; research; and extramural speech.
