Abstract

This paper deals with the growing tension in Sino-American relations and its repercussions on Arab-Chinese relations. The paper assumes that the Arab countries have resisted the pressures exerted against their relations with China. As a result, they have achieved a reasonable balance in their relations with the United States and other major powers. The paper indicated that the Chinese-American tension would continue. Therefore, American pressure will continue on the Middle Eastern and other developing countries to curtail their relations with China. Moreover, the United States partners in the Middle East have realized the significant changes in the international political scene and the shifts in the policies of the United States. As a result, they adopted new diversifying foreign policy options, especially the Arab Gulf states. The paper showed that Chinese-Arab relations had reached an advanced stage of strength, linking economic, commercial, political, cultural, and popular interests and transferring relations to the stage of strategic cooperation partnership. Moreover, the level of these relations may soon be upgraded to the stage of comprehensive strategic partnership after the mutual summit in Riyadh on 9/12/2022. The paper concluded that Chinese-Arab relations had reached an advanced level of overlap. However, such overlapping does not prejudice these essential and mutually beneficial relations.
