Abstract

Education in Chile has undergone great changes since 2019 due to the social outbreak and the COVID-19 pandemic, giving emergency distance education opportunities to establish itself as the new format by which students participate in the different educational activities. that contemplates the educational project. Faced with this situation, an exploratory-descriptive study was carried out that sought to know the perceptions of occupational therapy students who start their professional practices, through unstructured interviews that respected the bioethical aspects of confidentiality, the data collected in axial matrices were analyzed, categorizing them into emerging subcategories. Obtaining six categories related to the abilities of the students to face the practices, their expectations, difficulties, development, and implications when participating in the new student challenge. Concluding a little significant learning and several gaps in distance training, especially in the practical application of intervention strategies in the physical area. Likewise, face-to-face professional practice is described as essential for the achievement of the student’s social skills and the establishment of theoretical knowledge. In addition, it is a unique instance for learning multidisciplinary work and differentiating roles with professionals from other disciplinary areas. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
