The article discusses Jan Turbill research report, which provided an overview of some of the recently completed and ongoing research conducted in Australia. The research topics include literacy and technology, early literacy practices, middle years literacy, and the professional practices of literacy teachers. This research project explored the development of young children's expertise with information and communication technologies from preschool to the second year of school. Using ethnographic and case study methodologies, two researchers examined where young children in diverse socioeconomic areas use information and communication technologies (ICT), how many forms of it they use, and to what extent technology relates to other forms of play and learning in literacy and numeracy.
