Abstract

[Display omitted] • A new highly efficient and selective phosphorylation of 8-aminoquinolins on the C5 position is reported. • In this work, Mn(OAc)2/Co(OAc)2 as the cocatalyst.. • A series of C5 phosphonated amides were obtained in moderate yields with high regioselectivity. A simple and efficient manganese(II)/cobalt(II) co-catalyzed phosphonation of 8‐aminoquinoline amides with dialkyl H-phosphonates has been developed. Different C5 phosphonated 8‐aminoquinoline derivatives were synthesized with high regioselectivity in moderate to good yield. This method provides a convenient route to phosphonated quinolines which are difficult to prepare. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
