Abstract

Perhaps never has journalism been so committed to talking to its audiences as during and after the Covid-19 Pandemic. In this sense, the journalism of interior has assumed an interventionist role and the transformation of its communities, partly in this historical context. This article is a reflection on the brands of print media efforts in the Northwest and West of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, in South Brazil, in order to take a research aimed at answering the question of how print media in these regions are transforming their realities from a popular perspective. This is a theoretical-empirical, philosophicallybased investigation in journalism, anchored in the work of/about Luiz Beltrão and in dialogue with professional praxis. It goes through the traces left by the tradition of this researcher from the Brazilian State of Pernambuco, a pioneer of Journalism studies in Brazil, advances in the relationship of its postulates with countryside journalism and walks to conclude in the direction that provincial journalism is much more a builder of realities than a reproducer of them, being your product an object of study of interest to Folkcomunicação.
