Synthesis and mesomorphic properties of new mesogen contain 1,3,4-oxadiazole ring.

A new homologous series of Schiff's base containing 1,3,4-oxadiazole was synthesized. An alkyloxy substituent refers to the polarizability of the molecules, so, nematic polymorphism is caused by changes in intermolecular interactions. A polarizing optical microscope(POM) was used to investigate the mesomorphic properties. All the compounds of the series show liquid crystalline properties. FT-IR, 1HNMR, were laboring to POM analysis was used to determine the liquid crystal properties and the molecular structure compounds were explained, A different of lengths of the alky chain is used to explain the mesomorphic manners of homologous compounds.
