Abstract

The influence of alkali on molecular morphology of partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide (HPAM) is of great significance for 让s application in enhanced oil recovery・ The effects of alkali on the macroviscosity and molecular morphology of polyacrylamide solution were observed by a new method combining laser scanning confocal microscopy (LSCM), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and cryo-etched-transmission electron microscopy (Cryo・TEM)・ The results showed that the influence of alkali on the macroscopic viscosity of polyacrylamide solution wa5 significant, which was reflected in the molecular morphology ・ With the increase of alkali content, LSCM observed that the polyacrylamide molecular chain changed from the initial linear state to the curled state・ AFM observed the transformation of single molecule from dispersed fine rod shape to granular aggregate state・ Cryo-TEM observed that the molecular membrane also transformed from linear stretch state to granular aggregation state.
